Barossa Grape & Wine Association has today confirmed that the 2020 Barossa Wine Show will go ahead.
Barossa Wine Show Committee Chair, Alex MacClelland said: “The Wine Show has always been such an exciting and wonderfully well supported community event in the Barossa. In a difficult year like 2020 we thought it was so important to have something to bring the community together, focus on the best of what we do and raise a glass or two in celebration.
It’s been an interesting challenge putting the show together and we’ve had to adjust things quite a bit so it is different to a normal year, but we’re super proud to have a show at all and we’re very much looking forward to it.”
While class numbers have been reduced, BGWA and the Barossa Wine Show committee are looking forward to an expanded offer for the trophy celebrations.
The Barossa Wine Show trophy presentation will be broadcast globally via the Barossa Wine channels on Thursday 17 September, 7.30pm ACST.
BGWA will host 6 official celebration dinners, hosted at local restaurants; 1918 Bistro & Grill, FermentAsian, Fino Seppeltsfield, three 75 bar + kitchen, Vintners Barossa and The Barossa Cellar. Many more wineries will opt to host their own celebrations as they tune into the presentation broadcast.
Amanda Longworth Barossa Grape & Wine Association Brand Strategy Manager commenting; “We are exceptionally excited to be able to recognise our Barossa Wine Show trophy winners and sponsors via this broadcast. While we will miss delivering our traditional gala dinner, we are delighted to support our local restaurants and host a community event across the region.”
A further outreach will be provided to those tuning in, with curated collections of trophy and medal-winning wines going on sale via barossawine.com at the conclusion of the broadcast.
“The combination of the broadcast and sale of 2020 Barossa Wine Show collections provides us with an opportunity to bring the Barossa Wine Show to life for our wider digital communities.” said Amanda.
The 2020 Barossa Wine Show will be judged at The Barossa Cellar from 14-16 September. Nick Ryan continues his role as Chair of Judges in 2020. The Trophy Presentation will stream on barossawine.com and Barossa Wine’s Facebook, Vimeo and YouTube channels.
