Shhhh. Can you keep a secret? You can? Great, because if you’re coming along to Barossa. Be Consumed Sydney 2019 you’ll be the first to taste the secret (and first white wine) release from Barossa Boy Wines.
The official wine release date is July 27, but winemaker Trent is bringing the top secret project along for you to get a sneak peek/taste, so make sure you stop by and say hi to Barossa Boy. Trent gives us a few Barossa tips below:
Tell us something about you (or your wine) that we don’t know
In 2007 / 2008 I spent time in England playing cricket and then backed it up with working as a cellar hand during vintage in the Barossa. This story became the base for our label Double Trouble and features a double decker bus.

Wise. If Barossa were a person, he or she would be young at heart but a wise old soul.
You’re going to a friend’s place for dinner, what drinks do you take?
Seppeltsfield Road House Gin for pre-drinner, a bottle of red – usually Shiraz or Cabernet for during dinner and then Captain Morgans for after-dinner.

What grape variety or wine style most interests you at the moment?
Straight Mataro. The block where I get the fruit from for Young Wisdom has unique characteristics, we only make the wine if the fruit is good enough and some years it has a mind of its own.

Drive up over the hill on Gomersal Road and see the Barossa Ranges coming into Tanunda. Also seeing the patchwork of contrasting colours- in summer the brown hills and green vineyards, in winter the green hills and brown vineyards.
