RIESLING, EXPERIENCES AND LARGE FORMATS: TOP BAROSSA WINE AUCTION PICKS:
Justine Henschke has fond memories of a childhood spent picking grapes with her brothers, foot-stomping ferments and pouring tastings in Cellar Door. Justine re-joined the family business (yes, that Henschke) in 2014 after exploring the world of wine and marketing in the United Kingdom, New York and Sydney.
Today Justine can be found leading the next generation (the 6th) of Henschkes at their Eden Valley winery, with her effortless grace and more often than not, a bottle of Julius Riesling ready to share.
Justine gives us the scoop on her picks for the upcoming Barossa Wine Auction.
1 – ULTIMATE EDEN VALLEY RIESLING COLLECTION – CREATE YOUR OWN VERTICLE TASTING
One of my favourite varieties to be enjoyed both young and old. This makes a fridge full of Riesling a satiating reality.
2 – ELDERTON COMMAND EXPERIENCE INCLUDING LUNCH AND ELDERTON COMMAND WINES
Food and wine experiences are the best way to enjoy our region’s wines.
3 – HENTLEY FARM 2009 CLOS OTTO 9L SHIRAZ PLUS A ‘DISCOVERY MENU’ WITH PAIRED WINE EXPERIENCE FOR 4 PEOPLE
Did I mention that I am a sucker for food and wine experiences?!
4 – PEWSEY VALE VINEYARDS 6 PACK VINTAGE VERTICAL OF THE CONTOURS PLUS TOUR OF VINEYARD WITH LOUISA ROSE AND LUNCH
Again, had me at Riesling… The Contours is a favourite…
5 – THE BAROSSA CELLAR EXPERIENCE
Who doesn’t love large format bottles – the best selection of shiraz offered by Barons of the Barossa winemakers, and 2015 was a cracking shiraz vintage for our region.
