Meet Siobhan Wigan, winemaker at Hentley Farm ahead of her appearance at the Masters Apprentices event on Sunday 2 May.

Can you describe a pivotal moment in your career as a winemaker, do you have a mentor that has been particularly influential?

Working vintage 2014 with Quinny (Chief Winemaker, Andrew Quin) and Hentley Farm as vintage winemaker (in what was going to be a single vintage). Eight vintages later, I’m still here, helping Quinny craft outstanding wines from a very special patch of dirt. It’s fair to say Andrew has proved to be a key mentor in my career to date!

Are there any moments that stand out in your career?

Winning the trophy for most outstanding table wine at the 2019 Barossa Wine Show (for the 2018 Old Legend Grenache)

What do you want to see for the future of Barossa’s winemaking culture?

Exploring innovation while embracing our history.

You can catch Siobhan as part of the winemaking team at Masters Apprentices, a Tasting Australia event Sunday 2 May 2021.
